Qatif
the name for the line area extended from Safowa (
North ) to Dhahran ( South ) this area named “Qatif
”, includes Alwaha and Al Qala’a and subsidiaries.
The
main city in Qatif area was known by Alfardah or Al
Qala’a ( Jetty or Fortress ) as it had strong
fortified , located at the Arab Gulf coast on
palm tree oasis and fruit gardens at the middle of
the shore parallel to the oasis , It was founded on
the ruins of AlKhat City , Probably it was
founded Irdutsher Bin Babeeq on the second half
of the 3rd Gregorian century.

municipality interested in improving the town by
building some road at the old city , then modern
houses and building appeared, governmental
departments , public facilities such as markets ,
banks , schools etc were founded , electricity and
pure water network reached all buildings and
population growth speedily increased in this city
and its suburbs , The population according Hafiz &
Hiba since was 12.000 persons while Qatif Emarah
population according to the 1397 H census is 88588
persons .
In the
past the inhabitants for cost of living depend on
farming , diving for pearls and fishery , in
addition to trading with Bahrain , Iraq ,Oman ,
India and other countries , exporting dates and
dates drink , wood and fuel materials such as palm
branches and importing from those countries some of
food stuff such as rice , sugar and some
industrial products ,following the change in live
and rational styles the inhabitants contributing in
many available economical activities in the area ,
mainly in trade , various modern industries ,
companies , establishments and governmental
directorates.
Qatif
was encompassed by educational renaissance , started
by founding schools with its three stages , so the
graduate can continue studying at the local and
abroad universities . Among its natives there are
genius poets and distinguished writers.
