Abqaiq  City

 

Location and Area:
Abqaiq  city located  in the Eastern Province , 25 degree latitude , 56 minutes ( N) , longitude 49 degree , 41 minutes  East , it is a city existed by Aramco , 75 kilometers south of Dammam , It is one of the important cities  in the region , it is distinguished by its location  between Dammam and Al Ahsa , it is importance due to the main site of Oil Company works.

Why named so!
The reason of naming referred to the area  named ( Baga ) North of Biqaiq City , this area is a water source , when you come to this area the water well up , so called Baq, this area existed till now .

Concerning Abqaiq  planning , At that time the responsible for planning Biqaiq is an American engineer who asked the elders men  in the area about the name of this area , the told him it is called ( Biq )for macular , and Biqaiq for macular and feminine, also it is mentioned according to some references that Abqaiq  is a place where  caravans settling and there found many Bug (insect)  so the city name derived from  Bug.

Abqaiq  and Civilization and Educational Renaissance:
Abqaiq  is one of the world largest oil field , the first production of Abqaiq  well was about 9720 barrels per day , it is about 27 km from the sea ,Arabian  Gulf , the area named Al Qaryah , it is affiliated to Aramco , in which Aramco  made all means of rest and entertainments, also there is a Rail Way Station , the train connecting Dammam with Riyadh city passing through Abqaiq  and Al Ahsa , There is a public hospital 30 beds capacity , two public dispensaries and three private dispensaries .

Regarding the educational renaissance;  there are primary , intermediate and secondary schools for boys at Al Hajr city , in addition to the educational supervision  office  , scout commission , public library which inaugurated by the Directorate of Education in Eastern Province , also there are schools for girls , primary , intermediate and secondary , in addition to the women  educational supervision , also there are two Koran memorizing  primary and intermediate schools , also there are illiteracy fighting schools , for males and females .

Popular Markets:
There is a famous market called (Abu Umaiyah  Market ) which satisfied you from other expensive markets , also there ( Friday Market ) which starts after Jummah Pray  and continuing till the next Saturday , this weekly market located behind Abqaiq  Secondary School Building , these  market linked the past with the present.
